'Fantastic': Head of academy says Nottingham Forest have young prospect who is only going to get better

Nottingham Forest’s head of academy Chris McGuane has waxed lyrical about one of the club’s young stars currently playing at U21s level.

Going into the summer transfer window, Nottingham Forest may well have to offload a number of players to bring in some revenue to balance the books against FFP.

June 30 is the deadline for Forest to get their finances in order, otherwise, they could well find themselves picking up another points deduction for next season as they did earlier this season.

Nuno Espirito Santo‘s men narrowly avoided the drop despite picking up that four-point deduction and fans will naturally be hoping their club can keep on the right side of the rules 12 months on.

With Forest’s eye being on their finances once again, the club have recently announced a new deal for one of their promising talents.

And the head of the academy, McGuane, has insisted Forest have a seriously talented player on their hands having just handed out a new deal.

Nottingham Forest youngster hailed as ‘fantastic’ prospect

New contracts have been the talk of the City Ground over recent days with a number of Forest’s youngsters being handed new deals.

Aaron Bot and Jimmy Sinclair have both put pen to paper on new deals having impressed those at the club’s academy.

And there has now been another player to follow suit with Jack Perkins the latest to secure his future at Forest.

Perkins has sealed himself a new one-year deal with the club holding the option to extend his stay by a further year ahead of next summer.

Speaking to the club’s website on Perkins’ future, the head of academy, McGuane, waxed lyrical about the 20-year-old midfielder.

“We are very pleased that Jack will be with us again next season, having been a consistent performer throughout his time at the club both in training and in games,” he said.

“Jack is dedicated to developing as a player and displays a fantastic attitude in all aspects of his programme. Jack is another player who has been with us from our foundation phase age groups and he has a real connection with the club.

“We all wish him well for the season ahead and look forward to working with him.”

Forest may have to put trust in youth players next season

The coming month will provide Forest with an interesting problem to overcome as they will need to sell players ahead of the financial deadline.

The likes of Murillo and Morgan Gibbs-White are two players who could potentially make way over the coming weeks.

It is believed Forest value both Murillo and Gibbs-White well above the £50m region that they sold Brennan Johnson for almost 12 months ago.

With some of the club’s best players potentially leaving over the coming weeks, Forest’s options may well be stretched going into the new season.

Whether that could see some of the academy prospects make their way into Nuno’s squad for the new campaign is yet to be seen, but it is apparent Forest have a number of prospects who they’ve been keen to keep around.
