'I'm already getting ready': Another Wolves player now hints he could be staying at Molineux for 2024/25

A number of Wolves players have made suggestions about their futures of late, and now Hugo Bueno may well have indicated what he wants to happen this summer.

A big summer window is coming up for Wolves, who need to try and build on last season.

Wanderers finished 14th in the end, which was slightly disappointing because European football seemed a possibility at one stage. But injuries took their toll on a small squad.

Gary O’Neil is keen to go into 2024/25 with more players at his disposal.

But we could be seeing some departures, and one player who has been linked with an exit is Hugo Bueno.

However, the Spaniard doesn’t appear to be thinking of leaving given some new comments he has made…

2023/24 was a bit of a frustrating season for Bueno.

He enjoyed a breakout campaign last season and Julen Lopetegui really took a liking to him. But in 2023/24 he struggled for minutes under O’Neil.

He picked an injury earlier in the season, which allowed Rayan Ait-Nouri to thrive unchallenged for Wolves.

O’Neil took a huge liking to the Algerian, meaning Bueno had to make do with mainly substitute appearances.

As a result, there has been a bit of speculation about Bueno’s future. Journalist Liam Keen suggested recently that Bueno could be someone Fosun looked to make a profit on.

Previously, he has attracted interest from Scottish giants Celtic.

But Bueno has given a new interview with Wolves which was published at the weekend – and he does not talk as if he’s about to push for an exit. He said: “Signing a new contract with this club has always been a big moment for me. I’m really happy in that sense because I know I have loads of years left, which is good for me, and I just can’t wait for the next one.

“I can’t wait to get going again. I’m already getting ready mentally and physically so I can give my best and hopefully next season I can give loads more.”

Bueno sounds like he wants to stay

From the sounds of it, Bueno is ready to stay at Wolves and fight for his place.

His comments come after captain Max Kilman also appeared to suggest he wanted to stick around. Pablo Sarabia also recently talked as though he was ready for another campaign at Molineux.

We will see what happens, because Wolves’ resolve may well be tested over Bueno. He really impressed last term under Lopetegui, and it would be no surprise if someone came in with an offer for the exciting young wing-back.

You would imagine that if Rayan Ait-Nouri is sold, then he would not be permitted to leave.

But certainly from his comments, he sounds like he’s ready to stick around anyway.
