Exclusive: Liverpool make contact over 'brilliant' £19m Englishman, his club wants to sell him soon due to PSR

Liverpool have a busy summer ahead of them as the Reds and FSG hierarchies look to maintain continuity from the Jurgen Klopp era.

With Arne Slot replacing Klopp at Anfield, Liverpool will look to give their new manager the tools to help him hit the ground running on Merseyside.

In addition, there are likely to be outgoings at Liverpool, with some players being linked with a move away from Anfield.

One such player is goalkeeper Alisson Becker, with Saudi Pro League clubs reportedly eyeing a move for the Brazil international.

With that in mind, the Reds have set their sights on one of the best young keepers to grace the Premier League last season.

Liverpool among the Premier League clubs eyeing Burnley’s James Trafford

TBR Football understands that Burnley are gearing up to sell goalkeeper James Trafford this month, which will help them avoid any profit and sustainability issues.

TBR can reveal that a host of Premier League clubs have had contact about a possible deal for the 21-year-old.

Liverpool, Chelsea, Newcastle and Manchester City are amongst the club’s who have shown an interest – whilst his former boss Vincent Kompany is also believed to have recommended him to his new club Bayern Munich.

TBR understands Burnley have issues meeting their Profit and Sustainability targets but the sale of Trafford, would offset any worries – but they are looking for a deal to be concluded this month.

Who is Liverpool target James Trafford?

James Trafford came through the ranks at Manchester City and took in loan spells at Accrington Stanley and Bolton Wanderers.

In 2022, Burnley signed the 21-year-old from Man City for a reported £19million fee, and he quickly made a name for himself as one of England’s rising stars.

Trafford made 28 appearances for Burnley last season, though he was dropped for the more experienced Arijanet Muric for the last 10 games of their league campaign.

Despite losing his first-team spot last term, it’s still a huge achievement to make so many Premier League appearances at such a young age, and his future looks ‘brilliant‘.

In theory, Liverpool could perhaps get a bargain in Trafford, whose club is eager to sell before the end of the month in order to stay on the right side of profit and sustainability rules.

However, with so much interest in the Englishman, there’s also the risk that a bidding war may break out, so let’s see what happens in the coming weeks.
