'Completing his medical today': Fabrizio Romano says Chelsea are now on verge of truly 'special' signing

Chelsea have a busy summer ahead of them as they look to bolster their ranks and build on a difficult 2023/24 campaign.

The Blues struggled in mid-table for much of last season before rallying round and finishing sixth, which secured them a spot in the Europa Conference League.

Chelsea have also brought in a new manager, with Enzo Maresca leaving Leicester City to take over from Mauricio Pochettino at Stamford Bridge.

Now, it looks as though Chelsea are on the verge of making their first signing of the summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The player in question is Tosin Adarabioyo, whose Fulham contract expires in just a few weeks’ time.

Fabrizio Romano has now provided an update on the state of play involving Chelsea and Adarabioyo.

The transfer insider has taken to X to say the defender is “completing his medical today at Chelsea – as planned, all taking place and being signed this week.

“He’s joining #CFC as free agent as exclusively revealed last week. Here we go, confirmed.”

Who is Chelsea target Tosin Adarabioyo?

Tosin Adarabioyo is one of the most highly sought-after free agents in the English market at present.

He has made 132 appearances for Fulham since joining in 2020, also registering five goals and two assists in the process.

At 26 years of age, Adarabioyo is entering his prime as a defender. The 6ft 5in ace is also strong, fast and physically imposing.

For such a ‘special’ player to be available on a free transfer, it’s no surprise that so many clubs have been after him, but now it looks as though Chelsea have won the race.
