'For me' – former Man Utd star David Beckham called Real Madrid legend 'every day' and asked for same thing in nine-word message

A Real Madrid legend has admitted that it was a “tough moment” for him after he was left to “babysit” former Manchester United star David Beckham at the club.

David Beckham had a prolific spell at Old Trafford after he broke into the Manchester United first team under legendary former manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

A famed member of the ‘Class of ’92,’ Beckham shot to superstardom during his time with the Red Devils and made a long-lasting impact at the Premier League club.

The 49-year-old United legend made 394 appearances for United and scored 85 times and registered 120 assists during his time under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Beckham, who won an iconic treble at United, lifted six Premier League titles, a Champions League and two League Cups during a magnificent spell at Old Trafford.

The former England captain’s time at the Red Devils came to an end in 2003 after his relationship with United legend Ferguson fractured at the time.

Beckham left Old Trafford and moved to Real Madrid for a fee of £24.5m, with the United legend becoming a Galactico signing for club president Florentino Perez.

Beckham’s message to Real Madrid legend

David Beckham enjoyed success with Real Madrid by lifting a La Liga title, with the former England star making 159 appearances for the Spanish club.

The former Manchester United superstar left the Spanish capital in 2007 and signed for LA Galaxy, with Beckham later spending loan spells at AC Milan.

Beckham called it time on his legendary playing career in 2013 after his brief spell with Paris Saint-Germain.

Speaking on TNT Sports’ ‘What I Wore,’ Real Madrid legend Michel Salgado revealed that he spent a lot of time with Beckham during his spell at Los Blancos.

Michel Salgado claimed that his ex-Madrid teammate would call him “every day” and Beckham would be keen to do things with him due to his ability to speak English.

“For me, it was a tough moment because I had to babysit him a little bit,” he said.

“Victoria [Beckham] was not there, so I was the only guy speaking English.

“He would call me every day, ‘Michel, let’s go for this, let’s go for that.’ So, it was a pretty good time.

“For me, it was good because I practised English. I did it with Macca [Steve McManaman] before and then I had Beckham so it was a good moment.”

Beckham on his spell with Madrid

Beckham has previously spoken out on his time at Madrid and the former England international admitted his deep admiration for the Los Blancos fans.

“The four years I spent at Real Madrid were among the most beautiful and important spells of my career,” he said, as per Managing Madrid in 2020.

“The relationship with the fans, getting the chance to walk out into the Bernabeu and play in one of the greatest stadiums in the world of football.

“I have very fond memories of that time.”
