UPDATE: Mega Millions jackpot worth $560M won by single ticket sold in Illinois
The Mega Millions jackpot for Tuesday’s lottery drawing has increased to an estimated $560 million with a cash option of $264 million.
The winning numbers were: 19, 37, 40, 63 and 69. The Mega Ball drawn was 17 with a Megaplier of 3x.
While no one across the country hit Friday’s $522 million jackpot, a second-prize ticket matching five numbers but not the Mega Ball was sold in California. It’s worth $508,408 instead of the standard $1 million. California lottery prizes vary depending on ticket sales and number of winners. They differ from the fixed second prizes offered in other participating states.
In New Jersey, three tickets worth $10,000 each were purchased, lottery officials said. Each third-prize ticket matched four numbers plus the Mega Ball.
One was sold to a player who bought a ticket using the Jackpocket app. The others were bought at Butcher Block on Centennial Avenue in Cranford and ShopRite on Marketplace Boulevard in Hamilton, Mercer County.
Friday’s winning number were: 4, 11, 23, 33 and 49. The Mega Ball drawn was 23 with a Megaplier of 4x.
The jackpot has been growing since someone who bought a ticket at ShopRite in Neptune Township won the massive $1.13 billion prize on March 26. It’s the biggest prize ever won in New Jersey and the eighth largest in U.S. lottery history.
Theodds of a $2 ticket winning the Mega Millions jackpot by matching five numbers and the Mega Ball are 302,575,350 to 1.
Players have a 1 in 12,607,306 chance of a ticket matching five numbers but not the Mega Ball and winning at least $1 million. The odds of matching four numbers plus the Mega Ball for a prize worth at least $10,000 are 931,001 to 1.
Wednesday’s Powerball jackpot is worth an estimated $185 million with a cash option of $86 million.
