Srinagar:
Officials reported that an ancient temple situated atop a hillock in the tourist destination of Gulmarg was engulfed in flames early Wednesday.
The fire broke out in the Shiv Temple, also known as Rani Temple, before dawn. Despite efforts from both the police and locals, the temple could not be saved from the blaze. The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time. This temple held significance among tourists, having been featured in various Bollywood films, including the popular song ‘Jai Jai Shiv Shankar’ from the movie “Aap Ki Kasam”.
Meanwhile the Chest Disease Hospital in the Dalgate area of Srinagar witnessed a fire breakout on Wednesday morning, according to officials. The fire originated in the administrative block of the hospital. Firefighters were working to extinguish the flames when reports last came in.
