Crystal Palace are now finally about to replace Conor Gallagher at Selhurst Park as rumours emerge - opinion

The latest rumours around transfer arrivals to Selhurst Park could see Crystal Palace finally replace Conor Gallagher.

Conor Gallagher spent a successful season at Selhurst Park during the 2021/22 campaign as he made 39 appearances for the club.

The on-loan Chelsea midfielder scored eight goals and assisted five in his season but he then headed back the his parent club afterwards and has gone on the have a starring role for his boyhood club.

But with Chelsea in a bit of a mess, with no real plan and a bizarre transfer policy, they look likely to ship Gallagher out in order to fund their desire to stockpile South American talents.

However, it now looks as though Palace are set to replace him this summer after lacking his profile for two years. However, it’ll be with a player who’ll arrive for free, compared with the £50m Chelsea want for Gallagher this summer.

Daichi Kamada can finally replace Conor Gallagher for Palace

The Gallagher replacement comes in the form of Daichi Kamada of Lazio, who is set to become one of the first two transfers to arrive under Oliver Glasner‘s rule.

Kamada’s Lazio contract expires this month, but he’s expected to now sign a two-year deal at Selhurst Park, with Fabrizio Romano explaining that the deal is very close.

The Japanese international is set to join Chadi Riad in making the move to Palace, with the Moroccan likely to be arrival number one having already completed his medical and simply awaits his announcement.

Kamada worked at Eintracht Frankfurt under Glasner and the pair know each other well and he’s capable of playing in the midfield or even further forward in the attacking midfield slots.

As a player, Kamada shares quite a few qualities with Gallagher.

Fitting into the Glasner system perfectly at Palace, Kamada is an excellent signing and the fact he’s free makes it a potential move of the summer.
