The situation on the front line remains difficult. Russian forces are focusing their main efforts on the Kurakhove, Pokrovsk, Kupiansk, and Kharkiv directions, according to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi.
Syrskyi says he carried out the work in the area of active hostilities in the Kharkiv and Kupiansk directions of the Eastern Front. According to him, the enemy is currently focused on five directions. In addition, the Russian forces are conducting active assault operations in Vovchansk and on the outskirts of Chasiv Yar to capture and take control of these two settlements.
In other directions, the Russian forces are trying to conduct an offensive to stretch the active front line, as well as to hold Ukrainian troops and prevent them from redeployment to other combat areas.
“In general, the situation remains complicated due to the high intensity of hostilities and the wide use of armored vehicles and a significant number of guided aerial bombs by the enemy,” said Syryskyi.
According to him, the enemy is concentrating its main efforts in the Kharkiv direction and is trying to advance towards Hlyboke-Lyptsi, but suffers significant losses and has no success.
However, the main task of the Ukrainian Armed Forces at this stage is to deter the enemy, inflict maximum losses on it, and gradually move forward to liberate Ukrainian territories.
In addition, the situation in the Kupiansk area remains difficult. There, the enemy is trying to break through the defense of Ukrainian troops from two directions.
In this direction, the task of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is to stop the enemy and force him to assume the defensive.
“My task is to provide this area with sufficient ammunition and combat-effective reserves, which will significantly strengthen the defense. Despite the complexity of the situation, we have a chance to change the situation in our favor. And the defense forces are doing everything possible,” the Commander-in-Chief said.
He also noted the effective work of most commanders and headquarters, who are fully aware of the situation, use all types of weapons and especially attack drones of all types.
The situation at the front
Earlier, analysts of the Institute for the Study of War said that Russian forces had recently managed to advance near Vovchansk, but their offensive operations there have slowed down.
According to the General Staff, as of 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 54 combat engagements have been recorded since the beginning of the day. The enemy was most active in the Pokrovsk direction and in the Kharkiv region.
