Report: 'Outstanding' player is very enthusiastic about signing for Newcastle United this summer

While Tosin Adarabioyo was seemingly not fully convinced about a move to Newcastle United this summer, it seems to be a different story with another one of the Magpies’ targets.

Newcastle United are set to miss out on Tosin, with the 26-year-old opting to sign for Chelsea instead. His free transfer to the Blues from Fulham is nearing completion, with Tosin undergoing his medical on Tuesday.

It is a blow for Newcastle to miss out, but he is not the only defender that the club have been trying to sign.

The club have been confident about signing the 25-year-old, and it does not look like that confidence is misplaced. Newcastle are trying to complete this deal very soon, and it sounds like Kelly is excited about the prospect of wearing black and white next season.

How Lloyd Kelly feels about Newcastle move

That is according to iNews, who report that Kelly is ‘enthusiastic’ about working with Eddie Howe again.

It was Howe who actually brought Kelly to Bournemouth five years ago, signing him for £13million from Bristol City.

The Newcastle United manager recognised Kelly’s potential, viewing him as an ‘outstanding‘ player who had scope to get a lot better. He has done that during his time at the Vitality Stadium, and now Howe will hope he improves even more in the North East.

A deal does not seem too far away, with iNews stating that there are still just a few minor details to agree on before a transfer to Newcastle can be completed.

No matter what, he is leaving Bournemouth, with the Cherries announcing that Kelly is set to depart when his contract expires on June 30th.

Kelly’s relationship with Howe could help him enjoy a fast start at Newcastle

There is set to be a reunion at St James’ Park, and it is one that could really help Kelly at the start of his Newcastle United career.

It is not easy to play for Howe. He is a manager that expects a lot from his players, both tactically and physically. Lewis Hall found that out the hard way, and it resulted in him enduring a tough start to life on Tyneside.

Not many signings hit the ground running and have an immediate impact, but Kelly might be in a good position to do just that. He is already a player who Eddie Howe trusts, while they have worked together in the past which means Kelly understands his methods and what he expects.

Most of Howe’s signings need a settling in period, but Kelly could potentially hit the ground running.
