Season ticket update: Wolves announce major changes after fan backlash

Wolves have announced big changes to their season ticket prices after widespread backlash from supporters and the media.

Wolves’ owners have been subject to much criticism over the past weeks. At the end of the season, the club announced their new season ticket prices for the 2024/25 campaign.

The price to renew had increased dramatically, far more than many supporters had expected. Many fans saw an increase of 17%, while some children’s tickets saw an incredible 176% rise.

As a result, fans have done everything in their power to try and reverse this decision. A petition was launched by Wolves supporters about the season ticket prices. On top of this, multiple fans took to social media to express their outrage with the Wolves.

However, a compromise has appeared to be reached between the club and the fanbase after their latest statement.

Fosun met the fan advisory board on Tuesday night to discuss Wolves’ season ticket prices.

As a result of the meeting, several new changes were announced. Firstly, Wolves ‘guaranteed’ that the adult season ticket prices would freeze for the 2025/26 season. The club have now also scrapped the price increase for the Under 14s for the 2024/25 campaign.

On top of this, Wolves also announced that the pricing strategy and structure of junior season tickets would be reviewed for the 2025/26 season in consultation with the FAB.

Finally, improved communication and consultation between the club and fans about major proposals is also set to take place.

In wake of this news, fan group, The Old Gold Pack also released a statement. It expressed its delight in the scrapping of the price increase for Under 14s.

However, they also stated their concern that other sets of supporters still have to pay extortionate prices which has damaged their relationship with the Wolves hierarchy.

Wolves season ticket changes progress but are far from enough

While it is nice to see that Wolves have made some changes to their season ticket prices, it is still not enough.

For many fans, the rises are simply untenable. The club cannot treat supporters like customers and unfortunately, the last month has shown the Molineux faithful this reality.

Many concerns were simply not addressed in the statement. With the cost of living a major issue, how are fans meant to fork out an increase well above the current UK inflation rate?

On top of this, while they have stated that prices will freeze next season, there is no guarantee that a similar hike will not happen for the 2026/27 season.

The club has done irreparable damage to the fanbase. If another poor summer window arises then Molineux may reach a boiling point before the end of 2024.
