Wolves transfer stance on Pedro Neto now made clear

Arsenal are one of the sides interested in Pedro Neto, who could be an in-demand player at Molineux this summer.

The Portugal international’s fast start to the 2023/24 campaign caught the eye of many, with Wolves’ mind now made up on what to do with the 24-year-old.

According to The Athletic, there is a sense of ‘acceptance’ around the club that the upcoming window could be the time for Neto to leave.

It’s added that Wolves will not ‘stand in his way’, only if their £60m valuation of the winger is met.

Neto is not the only one of O’Neil’s stars to have attracted attention, however, Wolves are not ‘keen or content’ to entertain interest for any other players.

Neto transfer stance is refreshing for Wolves

Last summer was eye-opening for the Old Gold as several key players left to generate profit, with a similar scenario unlikely to play out this year.

O’Neil did a remarkable job over the 2023/24 campaign in navigating his small squad, with there now hope that Wolves can build on the lows of last summer.

While signings will be important, retaining those who impressed in the manager’s debut campaign will be vital if the squad is to progress further.

Losing Neto would be a shame however, obtaining £60m would be essential to the club’s progression, handing O’Neil the funds to rebuild his side.

Chris Sutton praised Neto’s ‘dangerous’ form during the season, with the player not someone Wolves would typically want to lose although, receiving such a fee would be hard to refuse.

The reason for this is that O’Neil has somewhat learned how to cope without Neto already, given the Portuguese forward’s dire injury record.

The prospect of losing other players in the starting XI could be far more detrimental to the club, making the stance an understandable one.

Matheus Cunha was linked to Manchester United last week, with Rayan Ait-Nouri’s future also speculated, with The Athletic’s report now a relief for fans.

It’s understood that while Neto is the most likely to go, there may not be any other departures besides the winger, with it clear that few players will slip through the net.
