Trump claim on Fox News debunked by ex-special counsel: 'Falsely denies what he did'

Donald Trump told Fox in an extensive interview that not only did he never say that Hillary Clinton should be locked up, but that he never pursued prosecuting her.

Multiple videos showed the first claim to be false, and on Wednesday former special counsel for the Department of Defense Ryan Goodman, blew the second out of the water too.

He claimed special counsel Robert Mueller's final report on the Russian investigation revealed that Trump did pressure his then-attorney general to go after Clinton.

"Even more significant than saying 'lock her up,' Trump falsely denies in this interview what he did in office," Goodman posted on X.

The Mueller report details in one section, "The President Again Seeks to Have [then-Attorney General Jeff] Sessions Reverse his Recusal." Sessions recused himself from the Russia investigation under the presumption that he was too close to Trump's campaign to make any decisions on the matter. Trump was enraged at the move, reports recalled.

"According to Sessions, the President asked him to reverse his recusal so that Sessions could direct the Department of Justice to investigate and prosecute Hillary Clinton, and the 'gist' of the conversation was that the President wanted Sessions to unrecuse from 'all of it," including the Special Counsel's Russia investigation.

"Sessions listened but did not respond and he did not reverse his recusal or order an investigation of Clinton," says the report.

Another point Goodman made is that Trump told the Fox reporters that he might "have to" prosecute his political foes.
