The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will provide Ukraine with 300 million euros for the repair of energy facilities damaged by Russian attacks, according to Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal in Telegram.

According to Shmyhal, the provision of €300 million to Ukraine is stipulated by a memorandum of understanding that he signed with the President of the EBRD, Odile Renaud-Basso.

"The funds will go to state energy companies for the restoration of generating capacities and infrastructure, as well as for the construction of new decentralized generation," the head of the government specified.

He added that such funds will help ensure a stable and uninterrupted electricity supply across the entire territory of Ukraine.

Shmyhal reminded that since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, the EBRD has provided Ukraine with €4 billion in financing.

Strikes on the energy system

Russian forces have been deliberately targeting Ukrainian energy infrastructure objects for the past few months.

Against this backdrop, the situation with electricity supply in the country continues to remain challenging. Scheduled power outages have been implemented across Ukraine in recent days.

Just yesterday, on June 4th, the CEO of YASNO, Serhii Kovalenko, urged Ukrainians not to use air conditioners, as there is a threat that critical infrastructure could be left without power.
