'No': Ian Wright says there's one Arsenal player who he wouldn't even swap for prime Thierry Henry

Ian Wright has named the one Arsenal player he wouldn’t swap for Thierry Henry, Lionel Messi or even Ronaldinho.

Mikel Arteta has built an excellent squad at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners are now among the best teams in Europe and many of their players can be considered world-class.

Wright appears to be a big fan of one of them, so much so that he wouldn’t swap him for some of the greatest players the world has ever seen.

Ian Wright says he’d snub Thierry Henry and seven other superstars in favour of Bukayo Saka

Ian Wright is an Arsenal legend – he follows the club every single week.

The Englishman is very close to a number of players in the squad as well, and everyone at the Emirates loves him.

Wright is an inspiration to many of Arsenal’s young English players. They really look up to him and often turn to him for advice.

One of them is Bukayo Saka, who like Wright, is a fan favourite at the Emirates.

The 22-year-old was Arsenal’s main man again in the 2023/24 season. He scored 20 goals and provided 14 assists in all competitions, which was his best-ever return as a senior player.

Wright took part in a video on Goal where he was asked if he would swap Saka for some of the biggest names in world football – past and present.

The pundit had just one answer to every name, even prime Thierry Henry.

When asked if he would swap Saka for the legendary Frenchman, he replied: “No, no, no, no. I’m not swapping him because we’re talking about now. I’m not swapping Saka for anyone now.”

The interviewer then asked: “Not even prime Ronaldinho?”

Wright quickly said: “No!”

The other names put in front of Wright were Phil Foden, Cole Palmer, Mohamed Salah, Eden Hazard, Vinicius Jr and Lionel Messi.

Mikel Arteta needs to avoid one Bukayo Saka mistake in 2024/25

Saka is arguably Arsenal’s best player, and that has been the case for a few years now.

The Englishman is getting better and better every year, and his numbers show he’s up there with the best players of his age in the world.

That has led to Saka constantly getting picked for club and country. He hardly ever gets a break, which resulted in a few injuries in the 2023/24 season.

Arteta needs to avoid that mistake in the upcoming campaign. He should sign a backup for Saka and make sure the Hale End star gets the rest he needs throughout the season.

Arsenal have been linked with plenty of right-wingers since the turn of 2024. Michael Olise is one of them and we think he would be brilliant for the Gunners.
