‘Vibrant’ N.J. mom killed in machete attack ID’d

Brianna Greenwood was allegedly killed by her ex-boyfriend, who attacked her with a machete, authorities said.

A woman allegedly attacked with a machete by her ex-boyfriend at a Wall apartment complex two weeks ago was a mother of two, according to a fundraiser set up to aid her family.

Brianna Greenwood, 29, died of her injuries Friday at a local hospital, authorities said. The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office alleged Greenwood’s ex-boyfriend attacked her with a machete May 23 while one of her children was nearby.

Greenwood could not overcome the massive injuries, despite 18 hours of surgery, Antoine Craft wrote on a GoFundMe page to raise money for the family. Greenwood’s children are 3 and 8.

“Brianna’s untimely departure serves as a stark reminder of the gravity of domestic violence. She, her children, and her family did not deserve to suffer at the hands of such cruelty,” the page says.

Greenwood was “a vibrant soul,” the page says.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office also identified Greenwood Wednesday as the victim of the attack.

Prosecutors charged Greenwood’s ex-boyfriend, Alex J. Williams, 24, with murder and related crimes in her death.

Wall police arrested him at the scene of the 9:20 a.m. attack on Aspen Circle in the Glen Oaks apartments off Route 138 in Wall, where they found a bloody and badly injured Greenwood in the parking lot.

Williams is scheduled to appear before a judge on Friday. Attorney information for Williams was not immediately available.
