£10m release clause... Man Utd should gamble on 179-goal household name this summer, Solskjaer got close in 2019 - opinion

Manchester United will be in the market for a forward in the summer transfer window – there is no doubt about that.

As Fabrizio Romano confirmed, the Red Devils will be in the market for four positions at the very least in the summer transfer window 2024 – with a striker a necessity with Anthony Martial departing.

Several options are speculated to replace the Frenchman, and United will likely go cheap. Whilst we believe they’ll obtain an out-and-out number nine, we think the attacking line also needs some firepower regarding the squad depth.

This is why United should look no further than a forward capable of playing in multiple different positions, who is ridiculously cheap and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wanted back in 2019.

Manchester United should take a punt on Paulo Dybala this summer

Yes, we know the year is 2024, but Manchester United should seriously think about finally securing the signature of Paulo Dybala this summer.

Dybala, 30, has been a name flirted with many Premier League clubs over the years, with United always in the conversation.

Alas, the Argentine never did make a move, choosing to stay in the Italian First Division with Palermo, Juventus and most recently, Roma. It’s safe to say he has a knack for getting on the scoresheet.

Now, at the ripe old age of 30, Dybala needs to plot his next move. His contract runs out at Jose Mourinho’s former side in 2025 – which means the Italians may want to cash in on the household name.

But even if they choose to cash in, they won’t be receiving a pretty penny. Fabrizio Romano reported that the prolific forward has a release clause, which is £17million (€20million) for Italian clubs this summer, while it will cost foreign clubs just £10million (€12million) to prise him away.

What a steal, and in our opinion, definitely worth a punt for Manchester United.

Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s signing could finally come to fruition

The Red Devils have sought out ageing stars in recent years, who have had fantastic spells at the club. Edinson Cavani, Christian Eriksen and Cristiano Ronaldo to name a few.

Dybala isn’t even in that age bracket yet. The Argentina international still has many more years left in the tank.

There’s a reason why Solskjaer wanted him in 2019. He can play as a striker, second striker and also a right-winger. He could be very useful to the Manchester United first-team squad.

Erik ten Hag, get it done. Paulo Dybala should finally put on a red shirt. For £10m – what have they got to lose?
