Exclusive: Arsenal make contact with £50m striker in the last week and his agents have made him aware

Arsenal have now made fresh contact with a striker who could become Kai Havertz’s understudy at the club next season.

Mikel Arteta is seeking a new centre-forward this summer, someone who can help bridge the smallest of gaps to Manchester City.

Despite scoring 91 goals in the league last season, it was felt that Arsenal lacked a bit of x-factor at times, someone who could instantly change a game.

Of course, that is something Edu can attempt to change in the transfer market, when Arsenal are expected to part with a considerable amount of money once again.

That being said, TBR Football understands that fresh communication has now taken place between Joshua Zirkzee’s representatives and Arsenal, alongside a number of Premier League clubs.

After an outstanding campaign for Bologna, Zirkzee is currently assessing his options, and is expected to follow Thiago Motta out of the club.

TBR understands that new Juventus boss Motta would ideally like to take Zirkzee to Turin, but owing to complications with the futures of Federico Chiesa and Dusan Vlahovic, he’s not currently a priority target.

Arsenal hold fresh talks with Joshua Zirkzee amid interest from several top clubs

Bayern Munich are also interested in taking Zirkzee back to Germany, but too have other pressing priorities.

All of this has allowed AC Milan to move into pole position to sign the Dutchman, who missed out on a place in the Netherlands’ Euro 2024 squad.

That being said, Zirkzee’s team are making sure the player is fully aware of all the possible options for him, including interest from Arsenal in England.

Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United have all spoken to Zirkzee’s representatives over the last 12-months as they followed his progress.

Now TBR understands that fresh communication has taken place with all three of the English teams mentioned.

And whilst all remain interested in a deal, nobody is pushing as hard as AC Milan at this point.

Zirkzee could the perfect Sesko alternative amid Chelsea interest

If right now Milan are pushing hardest for Zirkzee, it seems as if Arsenal are the driving force in the race to sign RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.

Arsenal recently submitted a bid for Sesko, one that was slightly below the striker’s release clause.

And with Chelsea now also making Sesko their priority target, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Arsenal refused to enter a bidding war.

Therefore, in the scenario that Arsenal would walk away from a deal for Sesko, Zirkzee could be the perfect alternative.

Bologna are thought to want around £50m for Zirkzee, similar to the fee that would be required to sign Sesko.
