Hungary will participate in the peace summit in Switzerland on June 15-16. The country will be represented at the level of Foreign Minister, according to Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó.
"The reason for our participation is that we are absolutely on the side of peace, and therefore we participate in all events where peace is on the agenda," said the Hungarian minister.
In response to a journalist's question, he confirmed that Hungary will be represented at the conference by the Foreign Minister.
"We respect Switzerland's peace efforts, and we will participate at the level of the Foreign Minister," he said, adding that discussing peace is always a good idea.
At the same time, he commented on the absence of Russia at the summit.
"We believe that real results can be expected if everyone is at the negotiating table," he said.
Peace summit in Switzerland
It was reported a few days ago that Hungary had not yet decided whether it would participate in the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland, as the war in Ukraine isn't Hungary's war, and both sides of the conflict will not be present at the meeting.
The peace summit will take place in Switzerland on June 15-16. Ukraine and Switzerland have invited more than 150 countries to the event, except Russia.
