Report: Champions League club now planning to make £3.4m offer for 'magnificent' Wolves player

Mario Lemina has emerged as a target for his former club Galatasaray – and a report has shared the offer they are ready to make for the Wolves midfielder.

Lemina has just finished a brilliant season at Molineux, at the end of which he was voted the Supporters’ Player of the Season.

The 30-year-old was a pivotal player for Gary O’Neil, who played his midfield general pretty much every time he could possibly could.

Lemina made 39 appearances across all competitions, playing a total of 3261 minutes. He only didn’t play when he was suspended and when the club granted him compassionate leaving following the sad passing of his father.

Lemina is hugely important for Wolves, but that is seemingly not stopping Galatasaray from attempting to sign him…

It has been claimed by GS Gazete that Galatasaray are now keen to sign Lemina this summer, and plan to make an offer soon.

Gala are playing in the Champions League in 2024/25, and want to sign someone to play alongside Lucas Torreira in their midfield.

It is stated that contact will be made over the player shortly, and that Gala are expected to make an opening offer of £3.4 million. The publication go as far as to claim that Lemina has said to Gala that he would go there if they can reach an agreement with Wolves.

Should anything come to fruition here, then Lemina would be heading back to Gala for a second time in his career. The star had a loan spell with the Turkish giants in the 2019/20 season, and made 28 appearances for the club.

Clearly, he made an impression during his time there, as they now seemingly want him back.

And it is understandable they would want him back, with Lemina showing himself to be one of the best ball-winners in the Premier League last season. According to official statistics, only nine players made more tackles than his 90 in 2023/24 – one of those being Joao Gomes (128).

Gala can forget it if opening offer claim is true

If it is true that Galatasaray are expected to offer £3.4 million for Lemina, then that is just laughable.

That would be a derisory offer, for a player who is absolutely crucial for Wolves and one of the first names on the teamsheet. This is a player who has completely transformed the way Wanderers play, and added so much steel and energy to the team.

He is also one of the leaders in the dressing room, and brings so much off the pitch, just as he does on it.

Gala are kidding themselves if they think they can get Lemina for anywhere near £3.4 million. Arguably, he is worth around 10 times that amount, even if he is 30 with two years left on his contract.

Lemina – who was branded ‘magnificent’ by Dave Edwards last season – has also said in a new interview that he is very happy at Wolves and would like to be at the club for ‘a long time’, which does rather make a mockery of this report.
