Report: Man City want more than £85m for 'phenomenal' player amid rumours he could leave this summer

It has been reported that Manchester City will only sell one of their players for more than £85 million in the summer.

Especially when it comes to potential outgoings, Manchester City are perhaps taking the wise decision by already setting a price tag for their players.

By setting a precedent, suitors will understand that unless they comply with City’s demands, they will be unable to sign their transfer target.

Man City set £85 million plus tag to sell club legend this summer

It has been reported by Het Laatste Nieuws that the Saudi Pro League clubs expect Manchester City to set a price tag of over £85 million to sell Kevin De Bruyne.

As a result, the report claims that there is a feeling of hesitation with regards to making a move for the Belgian, described as “phenomenal” by Jamie Carragher.

The Saudi clubs are aware of the possibility that if Kevin De Bruyne is unwilling to leave Manchester City this summer, he will be a free agent in 2025 — unless he extends his deal at the club.

On Tuesday, De Bruyne hinted that a move to the Saudi Pro League appeals to him, especially due to how it could aid him financially.

Manchester City have set a fair asking price for Kevin De Bruyne

In our view, Manchester City have set a fair asking price to let Kevin De Bruyne join a club in Saudi Arabia.

Unlike several players who join a Saudi Pro League club while being miles off their best, City’s number 17 remains one of the best in the world.

Considering how important the 32-year-old remains to City as well, if a potential exit is on the cards, they have every right to bank a significant fee from his sale.

If Manchester City are open to their talismanic midfielder leaving the Etihad Stadium, it will be interesting to see if a club in Saudi Arabia pays the club’s asking price.
