Neal Maupay reacts after Tottenham's James Maddison misses out on England's Euro 2024 squad

Tottenham Hotspur star James Maddison has failed to make the cut for England’s Euro 2024 squad.

The Spurs playmaker was called up to the provisional 33-man selection ahead of the tournament, but will not be part of the final squad for Germany.

The FA said Maddison and Liverpool’s Curtis Jones had left the England camp prior to the team’s Wembley friendly against Iceland on Friday.

“We thank them for being an important part of our pre-tournament preparation,” the FA said on X.

The news is a huge blow for Maddison, who hit the ground running at Tottenham following his move from Leicester City last summer.

However, injuries hampered his campaign, and he struggled for form in the latter stages of the season.

This has culminated in England boss Gareth Southgate omitting Maddison from the final squad to compete at the Euros.

Now, Everton striker Neal Maupay has reacted on X not long after news of the Maddison omission started doing the rounds.

The 27-year-old, who was on loan at Brentford last season, posted a picture of himself holding some darts in front of a dart board.

Why has Neal Maupay shared darts photo in wake of James Maddison missing out on England spot for Euro 2024?

For context, Maupay and Maddison were involved in a spat during Tottenham’s 3-2 win over Brentford at the start of the year.

Maupay opened the scoring in the match and mocked Maddison by copying his darts throw celebration, with teammate Ivan Toney joining in on the act.

Maddison and Maupay then had a heated exchange after the goal, and the two players then referenced each other in separate posts on Instagram.

As per the Daily Mail, Maddison mocked Maupay for not scoring enough goals to have his own celebration.

Meanwhile, the Frenchman said he had scored more goals and had fewer relegations on his CV than the Spurs man.
