Report: Liverpool make £60m attacker Pep Guardiola called 'incredible' a transfer priority this summer

Liverpool are likely to be busy in the summer transfer window in hope of giving Arne Slot the best possible start as Reds manager.

A new era beckons at Anfield as Slot takes over from Jurgen Klopp, who vacated the Liverpool hotseat at the end of the season.

Richard Hughes, Michael Edwards and the rest of the Liverpool and FSG hierarchies will do all they can to ensure Slot’s reign gets off to a flyer.

Unsurprisingly, plenty of top players are being linked with a move to Anfield this summer.

Now, a report has emerged claiming Liverpool are now prioritising an ‘incredible’ Premier League winger.

The player in question is Michael Olise, who has gone from strength to strength at Crystal Palace and is now highly sought after.

According to Leeds Live, Liverpool have ended their interest in Leeds United’s Crysencio Summerville and are now prioritising a swoop for Olise instead.

‘Liverpool appointing a fellow Dutchman in Arne Slot will no doubt have lowered the odds on the Reds signing the Leeds star,’ Leeds Live wrote of Summerville.

‘But the Merseyside club have had a close eye on Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise for some time now and it’s thought that is were their transfer priority lies.

‘Should the Reds get Olise, Palace are expected to use some of the potential £60million transfer fee to bring Summerville to Selhurst Park, with the Eagles having made their interest known.’

What could Liverpool expect from Michael Olise?

There’s no doubt that Michael Olise would be a fantastic option for Liverpool.

The 22-year-old can score goals, provide assists, is a great dribbler and has a lot of Premier League experience too.

Olise, who Pep Guardiola described as “incredible” last year, missed large chunks of the season through injury, but still registered 10 goals and six assists from 19 league outings.

The Frenchman ranks in the top three percent for shot-creating actions compared to his positional peers across the big five leagues, as per FBRef.

Olise also sits in the top 11 percent for interceptions and 13 percent for blocks, highlighting how hard he works defensively.

Olise won’t come cheap, and Liverpool would almost certainly have a lot of competition for his services, but he’d certainly be worth it.
