'Imminently': Journalist claims Chelsea are about to announce a truly 'special' signing

Chelsea are set for a busy summer in the transfer market as they look to bolster their ranks and build on a difficult 2023/24 campaign.

The Blues struggled in mid-table for much of last season before rallying round and finishing sixth, which got them a place in the Europa Conference League.

Chelsea have also brought in a new manager, with Enzo Maresca taking over from Mauricio Pochettino at Stamford Bridge.

Now, it looks as though the Blues are about to announce a new signing, according to CBS journalist Ben Jacobs.

The transfer insider has taken to GiveMeSport to claim that Chelsea’s announcement of Tosin Adarabioyo as a new Blues player is now imminent.

Just two days ago, Fabrizio Romano reported that the defender – who is set to leave Fulham – was undergoing his medical at Chelsea and that a move was all-but confirmed.

Now, Jacobs has provided an update, and also gave Blues fans further food for thought with regards to their club’s summer plans.

“I think Chelsea want to bring in four or five, and the fact they’ve got in Tosin early is very good news,” wrote Jacobs. “He’s passed his medical, that one will be announced imminently.

“And even though a free transfer is never free, it’s economical, we can certainly say, because there’s no fee paid, and that will allow Chelsea to allocate their budget elsewhere.”

Who is Chelsea target Tosin Adarabioyo?

Tosin Adarabioyo is one of the most highly sought-after free agents in the English market this summer, and it looks as though Chelsea are about to land him.

He has made 132 appearances for Fulham since joining in 2020, also registering five goals and two assists for the Cottagers.

At 26 years of age, Adarabioyo is entering his prime as a defender. The 6ft 5in ace is strong, fast and physically imposing.

For such a ‘special’ player to be available on a free transfer, it’s no surprise that so many clubs have been after him, including Newcastle United.

However, it looks like the Blues have won the race, and hopefully it won’t be long before we get the all-important official announcement.
