Tottenham reportedly want to sign PL player who Paul Pogba once called 'tiki-taka legend'

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move to sign a midfielder who once blew Paul Pogba away.

Spurs are working hard on the transfer market. Ange Postecoglou has already re-signed Timo Werner on another loan deal and a few more players are expected to arrive in the coming months.

A new midfielder is said to be high on Tottenham’s agenda, and they have now been linked with a move to sign a Premier League player who was once Pogba’s teammate at Manchester United.

What Paul Pogba once said about Tottenham target Andreas Pereira

Tottenham have been linked with a move to sign plenty of midfielders recently.

Conor Gallagher has been Spurs’ top target for a while, and reports have claimed that Postecoglou’s side are preparing a bid to sign him.

Aston Villa are also in the race to sign Gallagher, and the fact that they will be in the Champions League next season could give them an edge.

That’s probably why Tottenham are considering other midfielders, and reports have claimed that Fulham’s Andreas Pereira is a target for Spurs.

The Brazilian was a regular for the Cottagers under Marco Silva in the 2023/24 season. He was a key player for Fulham and is now attracting interest from other clubs.

Pereira first made a name for himself in England when he was at Manchester United. He didn’t quite fulfil his potential there, but he did produce a few brilliant moments.

One of them came in December 2019, when the Red Devils faced Burnley at Turf Moore.

Anthony Martial scored the opener in that game following some great work by Pereira. The midfielder stole the ball off Charlie Taylor before assisting the Frenchman to score.

Pogba missed that game due to an ankle injury, but he took to his Instagram Story to rave about Pereira’s pass to Martial.

“Tiki Taka legend to Martiaaaaaaaaall,” he wrote, as reported by CaughtOffside.

Pereira comments on his future after Spurs links

As good a player as Pereira is, nobody really expected him to be linked with a move to Tottenham.

Spurs’ transfer philosophy is to sign young players with big potential. The Fulham man, however, is 28 already, which makes us wonder if Tottenham will make a bid to sign him.

After the links emerged, Pereira has revealed that he will sit down with his agent to discuss his future right after the Copa America this summer.

“It’s difficult to talk about the future now, I’m completely focused on the national team. After the title, God willing, I’ll think about my future at the club,” Pereira said, as quoted by the Evening Standard.

“I’ll sit down with my agent and decide my future.”
