Obvious 800-pound gorilla in the room regarding West Ham's En-Nesyri move

Youssef En-Nesyri is the absolute perfect striker to lead the line for West Ham United under Julen Lopetegui.

Julen Lopetegui managed Youssef En-Nesyri during his time in charge of Sevilla, and the striker allegedly wants to link up with his former boss once again.

The West Ham manager is desperately searching for a new striker, and is apparently eyeing up moves for both En-Nesyri and Atletico Madrid hitman Samu Omorodion.

However, it’s obvious to see that signing the Sevilla ace this summer should be Lopetegui’s number one priority.

He’s proven himself at the very highest level, and has produced the goods consistently for Sevilla over the past four years or so.

Lopetegui cannot allow this summer transfer window to pass without bringing in a big upgrade on Michail Antonio.

En-Nesyri is the man for the job as far as I’m concerned, so why isn’t he at the London Stadium yet?

En-Nesyri perfect for Lopetegui so what’s the hold up

Recently described by the Daily Mail as ‘incredible’, En-Nesyri is the absolute ideal fit for West Ham.

The 27-year-old is well-known for his aerial prowess, and his ability to lead the line on his own with his exceptional energy levels.

The Moroccan possesses a tireless work-rate and occupies opposing defenders throughout the entirety of games.

He is a lethal finisher when presented with a goalscoring opportunity, and has 73 goals in 194 appearances for Sevilla to his name (Transfermarkt) – better than a goal every three games.

En-Nesyri would be a huge upgrade on Michail Antonio and would offer us a completely different facet to our attacking play.

The Sevilla hitman playing alongside the likes of Jarrod Bowen, Mohammed Kudus and Lucas Paqueta is an extremely tantalising one.

So why on earth hasn’t Lopetegui made it happen yet?

800-pound Gorilla in the room

The bottom line here is that there isn’t a better centre-forward option out there for West Ham this summer.

However, there’s absolutely no rush for Lopetegui to bring him to the London Stadium though.

That’s because Sevilla are desperate to raise funds to avoid financial sanctions, and they’ve allegedly already lowered their demands to less than £25 million for the Moroccan hitman.

Everybody knows that selling from a position of weakness always ends up in one way – the buying party receives the product at a reduced fee.

Why should West Ham pay Sevilla what they’re currently asking for the 27-year-old centre-forward?

The La Liga club need money urgently, so the Hammers just need to sit it out until the La Liga outfit’s desperation increases even further still.

I’m convinced that Julen Lopetegui will be able to sign Youssef En-Nesyri for around £15-17 million if he’s patient.

West Ham fans are crying out for the Moroccan to be signed this summer, but they’re all missing the obvious 800-pound gorilla in the room.

Sevilla’s desperation will play in to our hands. West Ham just need to let this one play out for a little longer, and we’ll then undoubtedly secure ourselves a really good value for money deal.
