Naturally, the focus from supporters will be on incomings but it looks like Liverpool could soon have an outgoing to announce as well.

A number of Liverpool players are interesting other clubs, with the likes of Luis Diaz catching Barcelona’s eye.

However, it is another player, Sepp van den Berg, who now looks like he’s on his way out.

Liverpool’s Sepp van den Berg in talks over permanent Mainz transfer

According to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, 22-year-old defender Van den Berg is keen on staying in Germany after impressing this season on loan.

Van den Berg has never quite got his chance at Liverpool and he’s made no secret in recent weeks of his desire to keep playing first-team football.

The Reds value Van den Berg around the £20m mark and they’ll be hoping Mainz agree to somewhere near that figure.

Quite whether the Bundesliga side will want to stump up such a fee, remains to be seen.

But Liverpool will see around £20m as a decent win for them if they do get this one done.

Time to move on for all

It’s quite admirable really for Van den Berg to want to move from a huge club like Liverpool in the hope of seeking first-team football.

The young defender clearly has qualities about him but he’s also not going to be moving any of the Reds’ first-choice defenders out of the way anytime soon.

Van den Berg, then, is wise to push for this transfer and it’s a real chance for him to kick on.
