'Good news for us': Nemanja Matic reacts after hearing news about £300k-a-week Man City player

Nemanja Matic has shared his reaction to some recent news concerning one particular Manchester City player.

The former Chelsea and Manchester United midfielder has racked up 614 senior club appearances throughout his career as well as 48 for the Serbian national team.

In fact, with England having Serbia in their group for the upcoming European Championship in Germany, the two sides will be facing off against each other for their first match of the tournament.

Now though, Matic has taken to social media to share his reaction to some recent news concerning one of City’s big-name players.

Nemanja Matic reacts to latest Jack Grealish news

In a recent post shared on his X account, Matic had this to say regarding two particular Premier League stars who were not included in the England squad for the Euros.

He said: “I would always like to have players like @MarcusRashford and @JackGrealish in the team, players who can decide the game with one move! Not selected/good news for us.”

Has Southgate made a mistake cutting Grealish from the England squad?

While Rashford wasn’t even included in the initial 33-man England squad, Grealish was, although the City winger was cut from the final squad, despite delivering an assist in Monday’s 3-0 win over Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Despite only scoring three goals and delivering three assists in 36 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side across all competitions this season, the £300k-a-week attacker still managed to end his latest Premier League campaign with the joint-fourth-highest rate of shot-creating actions per 90 minutes (4.82) in the City squad.

In fact, during his 28-minute cameo against Bosnia on Monday, Grealish delivered two key passes in total, which shows how much of a creative impact he can have in games, as Matic mentioned in his post.

Overall, we agree with Matic that Grealish’s loss could be Serbia’s game if England fail to find a way through their upcoming opponents.
