Report: Premier League club submit bid for 'brilliant' £20m player tracked by Chelsea

Chelsea may want to react quickly if they hope to sign a £20m-rated transfer target this summer because a Premier League rival has blinked first by submitting an opening bid.

While Chelsea have proven they’re willing to flex their muscles with big-money signings in recent years, there’s still value in the window if you look in the right place.

The Blues have already confirmed their first signing of the summer, which is a free transfer and becomes official on 1 July. Tosin Adarabioyo, 26, has been announced as a new Chelsea player and the centre-back joins to try bolster the defence.

Newcastle bid for Chelsea target

The Daily Mail has claimed that Newcastle United have made a move for Burnley’s James Trafford.

It is explained that Newcastle have launched an offer of £16m. There’s talks ongoing but Burnley want closer to £20m.

The report says that Chelsea, Liverpool and Bayern Munich have tracked the 21-year-old Burnley goalkeeper.

This comes after The Sun recently said that Chelsea are ready to make a £20m move for Burnley’s James Trafford.

James Trafford has huge potential but he’s not ready

Trafford, who’s just 21, is a highly-rated young goalkeeper.

It was a tough campaign for him last year for relegated Burnley, though.

He conceded 62 goals in 28 Premier League matches before losing his starting position in-between the sticks at Turf Moor.

Speaking via BBC’s Match Of The Day last December, Ian Wright described Trafford as “brilliant” after a Premier League display.

The Chelsea Chronicle thinks Trafford does have a big Premier League future ahead of him, but he’s still too raw and not ready for Chelsea yet.
