Kieran Trippier has said that one Manchester City player can do everything on the pitch.
After spending some time in City’s youth ranks, the 33-year-old has gone on to make 521 senior club appearances throughout his career.
Having played with and against a large number of top-level players, the Newcastle United defender has shared some significant praise for one particular figure in Pep Guardiola’s squad who he has a lot of experience playing with and being around.
Kieran Trippier says Kyle Walker has everything in his locker
Speaking in a recent Q&A video on The Overlap, Trippier had this to say about his relationship with Kyle Walker.
He said: “We’ve grown up with each other since U18s. Then U19s with England, then he went on to join the U19s with Tottenham then he just kicked on.
“Me and Walks are with each other the most out of anybody away with England. [Walker’s pace] is not slowing down, is it?
“I think ever since he went to City, he’s just taken his level on an extra five, six, seven levels.
“I’ve always respected him because he helped me as well, even though we were in the same position when I was at Tottenham [Hotspur], before I signed for Tottenham, he’s always helped me so I have huge respect for him.
“He’s an incredible player, he’s definitely not slowing down. I think on the ball, I think defensively, going forward, he’s got everything. Quality player.”
Walker is one of the best full-backs in modern history
Back in the 2009/10 season, the two defenders played in three games for England’s U19 side.
After then featuring in just one game together at Tottenham during the 2016/17 season, the pair have played in 26 matches for the senior England team, the most recent of which being the 1-0 defeat against Iceland.
In 612 senior club appearances throughout his career, Walker has scored 12 goals and delivered 52 assists.
Having been hailed as a “unique” player by Guardiola last year who has certain physical attributes that make him “incomparable” to most other players, it’s clear with that in mind and now with what Trippier has had to say that Walker is one of the top defenders in the world and has been for many years.
