Manchester United ready to bid for 'devastating' £17m forward who scored a brace past De Gea in 2023 - Journalist

Finally, the transfer window is beginning to pick up steam for Manchester United and now a striker is set to be subject of a bid.

After a slow start to the summer with two weeks of seemingly little movement regarding transfer arrivals, the past few days have seen a shift.

Over the last couple of days, Manchester United have had a bid rejected for Joao Neves, while reports are now circulating over a second bid being prepared. Meanwhile, a move for Jarrad Branthwaite also looks on the cards with Ineos expecting a deal to be completed this month.

But this only ticks off two of the four positions which are desperately needed, and now one journalist is claiming a bid is ready to be sent to sign a striker who’ll offer Rasmus Hojlund some competition.

Manchester United ready to bid for Youssef En-Nesyri

A new striker is a signing that United absolutely need to secure this summer, with Anthony Martial’s exit leaving just Hojlund as a senior option in the squad.

Now though, it seems an addition could be on the cards in the form of Youssef En-Nesyri with Spanish journalist, Maximo de la Cruz Ramirez, reporting that the Moroccan could soon be the subject of a bid.

He claims that United will present an offer worth between £12.7m and £17m to sign the 27-year-old Sevilla striker. This bid is expected to be presented to the La Liga side in the next few days as they have to sell and En-Nesyri has already green-lit the move.

En-Nesyri has just enjoyed his best season yet with Sevilla, scoring 16 goals in just 33 league games, while adding a further two in six Champions League games, so it’s easy to see why United would hold interest.

En-Nesyri is a player Manchester United will know too well

This summer won’t be the first time the number nine has caught the eye at Old Trafford, as he’s faced off against Erik ten Hag’s side before and was also linked with a move in December.

During the 2022/23 season, United faced Sevilla in the Europa League quarter-final and lost 5-2 on aggregate with the 3-0 second-leg defeat seeing En-Nesyri score a brace past David de Gea in an awful night for United.

En-Nesyri has been described as a ‘devastating‘ striker, and one who has a proven track record of scoring goals at various levels.

Currently in his prime years, he’s exactly the kind of striker we’d have expected United to be looking to sign in order to support and take the pressure off Hojlund.
