Cambridge-based Squared Circle Boxing Academy put on first home show at Burwell Sports Centre

Niall Chamberlain was the star turn at Squared Circle Boxing Academy’s first ever home show on 25 May.

The Cambridge-based club hosted the event, which featured a number of skills and competitive bouts, at Burwell Sports Centre.

And it was Chamberlain, who lives in the village, that caught the eye with a dominant display against his opponent from St Osyth Boxing Gym.

The ‘Burwell Bomber’ used his superior reach to good effect, peppering the visiting fighter with some well-timed jabs before he unleashed a string of combinations to win via a stoppage.

Elsewhere on the card, Squared Circle’s Ethan Hubberd racked up a third straight victory over his opponent from Ashford.

Hubberd, who lost his first two bouts in the ring, came out on top in every round.

There was also a first win for the club’s Louis Hadley. Up against a fighter from New Saints Boxing Club, Hadley put a run of back-to-back defeats behind him to come out on top.

Kayden Bidwell, Harvey Smith and Ruben Recio all suffered narrow defeats, while Lilly Yeates showed her undoubted potential during her first ever skills outing.

Yeates – like all of the fighters – collected her trophy from European champion Jordan Gill.
