Andre Onana pulls off moment of individual brilliance for Cameroon in clash with Bebe present

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana pulled off a class penalty save for Cameroon while on international duty.

It has been a topsy-turvy first campaign for Onana at Old Trafford. The Cameroonian experienced extreme highs and monumental lows in his inaugural season.

However, all in all, Erik ten Hag will be happy with his £47m acquisition. The decision to shun club legend David de Gea was a big one – but ultimately United obtained a solid shot-stopper with different skillsets in Onana.

One big talking point midway through the season was the fact the 28-year-old decided to rejoin his national side. It didn’t affect his Manchester United run-in, he missed just one game, but it could in future.

However, Onana’s mind has been made up, and his country will be delighted. He’s a fine asset to have. The keeper proved this to be true in his latest international clash.

Andre Onana saves a penalty for Cameroon against

Onana showed his class for Cameroon against Cape Verde as his side ran out 4-1 winners in a World Cup qualifier. Vincent Aboubakar scored twice and Onana saved a stoppage-time penalty in Marc Brys’ first game in charge.

In a game that also featured former Manchester United ‘wonderkid’ Bebe, Onana saved Kevin Pina’s penalty in the 94th minute – in what was a spectacular stop.

The result took Cameroon to the top of Group D in African qualifying for the 2026 Fifa World Cup, ahead of Libya on goal difference with both teams on seven points after three games.

Manchester United fans think it was actually a goal…

A foul was given against Onana for the tackle by Gilson Benchimol when he attempted to gather the loose ball on his goalline.

But, United fans actually think it was a goal, going over the line before contact was actually made.

One wrote: ‘That ball went in. He didn’t save it.’

Another said: ‘That ball has definitely went over the line by the time he got to it but we say nothing.’

Another said: ‘Good save initially… but that ball literally went in?’

They have a point, it is rather questionable. Either way, it wouldn’t have affected the outcome of the fixture.
