‘Belongs in a wheelchair…’ Pundit makes outrageous Messi and Suarez claim after Inter Miami move

Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez have been spectacularly criticized for their respective moves to Inter Miami and MLS.

The legendary attackers both signed for the Herons in the last 12 months with Messi moving to Inter Miami this time last year in a blockbuster deal as Suarez arrived seven months later in the January transfer window.

With Inter Miami leading the MLS Supporters’ Shield standings with Messi and Suarez in fine form, the duo have taken to life in America well, with soccer as a sport growing because of the efforts of the attacking duo.

Yet Messi and Suarez have now come under fire for their move to MLS.

Suarez’s fitness slammed as Messi move to MLS is viewed as disappointing

Speaking on UpFront, former Crystal Palace chairman and pundit Simon Jordan was full of criticism aimed towards Messi and Suarez after their respective moves to MLS for two different reasons.

The reigning Ballon d’Or holder was slammed for moving to a league as weak as the American top flight given his incredible quality, whereas Suarez’s current fitness at Inter Miami was called into question.

Indeed, to say these points are unfair would be quite an understatement, especially with Messi and Suarez pushing the MLS brand more than anyone else in recent years and doing so with fantastic performances.

Jordan said: “Messi is a wonder on the field, but they can’t pass the ball to him because they aren’t good enough. Suarez looks like he belongs in a wheelchair. The quality of football [in MLS] is [English] League Two, League One at the very best. It disappointed me to see Messi in that space.”

Messi and Suarez digs are nothing short of ridiculous and outrageous

Whilst MLS has come leaps and bounds in recent years in terms of the quality on the pitch and the type of players the league are now looking to sign, it appears that some stereotypes are yet to be shaken off.

And for Messi and Suarez, they simply do not deserve the criticism that has come their way this week, with the pair showing this season that a move to Inter Miami was the right thing to do.

Given the direction MLS is heading in, it might not be long until the division as attractive as some of the best in Europe, with Messi and Suarez key to this shifting dynamic in America.
