How Chelsea fans at Stamford Bridge reacted to Mauricio Pochettino managing at Soccer Aid

Mauricio Pochettino was let go from his role as Chelsea manager just one season into his tenure at Stamford Bridge.

The decision certainly took some off guard after he had steered the club into qualification for some form of European football next season.

Pochettino’s last Chelsea match at home saw his side win 2-1 against Bournemouth, however last night he was back in West London to complete his Soccer Aid obligations.

Taking charge of the Rest of the World side, he was defeated by Frank Lampard and the England side in an entertaining affair.

There were a number of Chelsea legends on display for both teams, with Eden Hazard in particular lighting up the stadium where he used to star on a weekly basis.

The likes of Petr Cech, Michael Essien and Gary Cahill all also played, with the latter in particular showing a calmness that made it seem like he hadn’t missed a day since his retirement.

While Lampard was always going to be a popular figure in his former stadium, the same was by no means assured for Pochettino.

However, a video on Twitter from the Mail Online emerged that showed him waving to some in attendance, with him recieving a warm reception in the process.

The Argentine has been replaced at the helm by Enzo Maresca, who has been handed a long contract to show confidence in his ability to take the project into the future.

While it was no doubt upsetting to some of the first team players who had grown a close bond with the former boss, it has already been claimed that some have been speaking positively of the Italian based on previous experience.

One of those is Cole Palmer, who is no doubt going to play a crucial role in the new manager’s tenure after his stellar campaign last time out.
