Report: Aston Villa decide they want over £16m if they are to sell Dean Smith signing this summer

Aston Villa have now decided that they want over £16m if they are to sell a Dean Smith signing this summer.

The Villans are under pressure to move players out the door this month in order to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations.

Unai Emery likely won’t be able to bring any players in until after the end of June – when the financial year ends.

With that said, it has just emerged how much they’d be willing to sell one of their first-team regulars for.

Aston Villa want more than £16.9m for Matty Cash

Matty Cash has been heavily linked with a move to Serie A giants AC Milan in recent weeks and now according to Calcio Mercato, they are prepared to sell him for in excess of £16.9m.

The Villans outlaid £16m on his signature from Nottingham Forest in 2020 during Dean Smith’s reign and want to make a profit on the deal.

The 15-cap Poland international is under contract until 2027 and having made 46 appearances last term, Villa won’t allow him to depart on the cheap.

Cash is a fixture of Emery’s 11 and it seems Profit and Sustainability rules are the only reason his sale is being considered.

Milan have been tracking Matty Cash for years

Milan have been tracking Cash for years, dating back to his days at Nottingham Forest in the Championship.

The Italian club like his profile and he is being considered along with Tottenham Hotspur defender Emerson Royal and Lille’s Tiago Santos.

Talks are not expected to be advanced at this stage due to Villa’s pricetag, so it seems any forthcoming deal will have to be around £15m otherwise Milan may walk away.
