‘Fantastic’ Chelsea attacker is now actually worth more than Victor Osimhen

Chelsea have reportedly turned their back now on one of their previous top transfer targets to bring in this summer.

Throughout the majority of last season, the Blues were linked with the addition of Victor Osimhen, who many expected to move on this summer.

Despite the fact it was reported that he was owner Todd Boehly’s number one transfer target for the upcoming window, it now seems as if they are looking in another direction.

It has been reported that they are still interested in a deal to sign Benjamin Sesko, however they are facing competition from a number of fellow top sides.

However, the club may well have started to look at who they already have in the position as a reason to not go and spend potentially a club record fee again on a new player.

Nicolas Jackson was the player who picked up nearly all the minutes at Stamford Bridge in that role last season, and certainly improved as the campaign went on. He was described as ‘fantastic’ by Owen Hargreaves.

Nicolas Jackson worth more than Victor Osimhen

In a recent list published by the CIES Football Observatory, the 22-year-old ranks as the most valuable player from Africa, seeing him higher up than Osimhen.

Considering the Blues signed the Senegal international for less than a third of what Napoli are looking for to part ways with their striker, it is perhaps not a surprise the club are looking a different direction right now.

Chelsea prioritising Michael Olise

Their priority has reportedly shifted to bringing in a new winger, with it clear that these players played a starring role under Enzo Maresca during his time at Leicester City.

It was claimed earlier today that they were prioritising the signing of Michael Olise, who enjoyed a fantastic campaign despite injuries at Crystal Palace.

He would certainly feel like an upgrade on Noni Madueke on the right, despite the England Under 21 star coming into his own in the latter stages of last season.
