A player wanted by Ange Postecoglou is now tempted to join Tottenham this summer.
Spurs might have some problems in trying to convince targets to move to N17 this summer after failing to qualify for the UEFA Champions League – something that already looks to have ruled Tottenham out of signing Viktor Tsygankov.
However, there is one Ange Postecoglou target who is seemingly edging towards joining Tottenham…
Hiroki Ito tempted to join Tottenham
A story from Kicker in Germany now states that VfB Stuttgart No.21 Hiroki Ito is tempted by the chance to join Tottenham this summer.
The German news outlet believe the Japan international has already rejected Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr and also Al-Ahli, who were both willing to activate his €30m (£25m) release clause.
Furthermore, Kicker believe Ito’s sale would be a “tremendous” financial boost to the Bundesliga outfit, who remarkably finished second last season ahead of Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, which suggests VfB Stuttgart would be open to losing him without a struggle.
Ito – who can operate on the left or in the centre of defence – made 26 Bundesliga appearances last term, playing a key role as VfB Stuttgart amazingly qualified for the UEFA Champions League.
Ange Postecoglou knows this market well
Before enjoying huge success at Celtic, Postecoglou actually made his name in Japanese football with Yokohama F. Marinos – where he lifted the J1 League title in 2019.
The Australian then signed some of Japan’s best players at Celtic, such as Kyogo Furuhashi, Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda, all of whom performed a key role under him in Glasgow.
Therefore, Postecoglou is clearly no stranger to the Japanese market, and if the 58-year-old believes Ito can improve Tottenham, Daniel Levy should help to push through a move.

After all, a £25m release clause in this day and age is a very small fee to pay for a 25-year-old performing at this level, and also one with 18 caps for Japan under his belt.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as we can certainly see a move for Ito materialising this summer.
