Exclusive: Pep Guardiola has told the Man City board he would love them to sign 'world class' player this summer

Pep Guardiola has now made it clear to the Manchester City board that he would like to make a marquee addition to his midfield this summer.

City’s midfield seems to be their biggest concern right, with speculation over both Bernardo Silva and Kevin De Bruyne’s futures.

Silva is linked with a move away most summers, and whilst he seems likely to stay, De Bruyne is thought to be open to a move to the MLS in the near future, possibly even this summer.

Of course, City won’t stand still in that regard, and seem likely to make another addition, given Matheus Nunes is perhaps yet to hit the levels hoped of him.

That being said, TBR understands that Guardiola has now told his Man City bosses that he would love to be reunited with Joshua Kimmich, who he managed at Bayern Munich.

And to that end, TBR has also been told that Bayern have reiterated to Kimmich that they plan to sell him this summer if he does not sign a new deal at the club.

Set to start as a right-back for Germany at the Euros, Kimmich put contract talks on hold last season as he did not want to stay if Thomas Tuchel remained.

Man City target Joshua Kimmich is ‘intrigued’ by prospect of playing abroad

Bayern have now spoken to Kimmich’s representatives following the appointment of Vincent Kompany but it remains unclear if he would look to commit long-term.

TBR understands that the German is ‘intrigued’ by the prospect of playing abroad and is fully aware of the interest in him, with just 12-months left on his contract in Bavaria.

Kimmich has previously spoken of the impact Guardiola has had on his career, which perhaps bodes well towards the idea of him making the switch to Manchester.

City are already looking closely at Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes, but TBR understands that would not have an impact on signing Kimmich as well.

As mentioned, Nunes has struggled at the Etihad thus far and TBR is told that City are looking to sell the Portuguese midfielder along with Kalvin Phillips.

Manchester City could face competition from Barcelona and Hansi Flick to sign Kimmich this summer, given the former Bayern man is also close to the midfielder and would like to bring him to the Catalan capital.
