A ‘legend’ called Chico appeared on Gold Rush to tell Parker Schnabel how he became a multi-millionaire as a gold miner. He dug up $32 million worth of gold in just 15 days when he was younger.
Chico discovered 1,000kg of gold across two weeks, something that Gold Rush star, Parker Schnabel, admits he nor anyone he knows has been able to do in such a short amount of time.
Chico discovered $32 million of gold
Chico found 1,000kg of gold in 15 days. He said the vein was 18 meters thick while 80 percent of the dirt was gold, and became a legend for finding the huge amount of gold in Serra Palada.
For a few years, Brazilian-born Chico lived the high life and owned two private jets, alongside being a regular on the Rio De Janeiro party scene. There is a mining pit where the gold originally remained.
At its height in 1979, over $2 million worth of gold was pulled from the hotspot where nuggets worth $100,000 could be extracted by hand, which Parker now wants to invest in – if there’s enough gold left.
Gold miner was a regular party-goer
Chico often went to parties on the Rio De Janeiro beaches, but he had a smart side to him and ended up spending the rest of the money on the pit to “invest to find more gold.”
Parker described the whole ordeal as “crazy,”. And all it took back in 1980 was for a local child swimming on the banks of a local river to find a 6g nugget of gold for Chico to gain his riches!
He wanted to show Parker the gold
Chico was eager to show Parker where he found $32 million worth of gold. Parker admits he doesn’t know anyone else who has found that amount of gold in that short space of time!
He said, “I love how normal it is for them talking about the eighties, as if it’s not a big deal. It’s definitely a big deal,” while Chico said, “Let’s go. I want to show him the place.”
