'He's a game-changer': Wayne Rooney says Arsenal have a player who's simply 'fantastic'

Wayne Rooney has heaped praise on one Arsenal player and even branded him as a ‘game changer’.

The Gunners finished second in the Premier League behind Manchester City in the 2023/24 season, just like they did in the previous campaign.

However, there are still a lot of positives to take, and one player in particular had an outstanding campaign for Arsenal last season.

Wayne Rooney shares one thing about Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka that’s ‘very rare’

Rooney is one of the greatest footballers England has ever produced.

The Englishman was an absolute superstar for Manchester United. He spent over a decade there and was among the best players in the world at the time.

Rooney has shared dressing rooms with some incredible players over the years. From Cristiano Ronaldo and Roy Keane at club level to Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard on the international stage, he rubbed shoulders with some great names.

The Manchester United legend knows a good player when he sees one, and he has spotted a fantastic footballer at Arsenal now.

Rooney raved about how well Bukayo Saka has progressed over the last two years and also explained the one trait he possesses that is ‘very rare’.

He also called Saka a ‘game-changer’ who can win games on his own for club and country.

Rooney told the Premier League’s YouTube channel: “It’s very rare you get wide player running off the ball and running in behind, and I think his movement is fantastic.

“You imagine his position on the right for England is almost cemented in. He is a game-changer who can win games for you. He has been fantastic, especially the last couple of years.”

Who should start for England – Saka or Foden or Palmer?

Gareth Southgate has plenty of options to choose from when he has to decide who starts on the right wing for England.

Saka, in many people’s eyes, is a guaranteed starter, but following Phil Foden and Cole Palmer‘s brilliant seasons for their respective clubs, they are in contention as well.

However, despite all the noise from outside, it’s a straightforward decision for Southgate.

Saka is head and shoulders above Foden and Palmer as a right-winger. The Arsenal man scored 20 goals and provided 14 assists in his natural position in the 2023/24 season.

Foden, on the other hand, managed just seven goals and four assists in 23 appearances as a right-winger or a right-midfielder for Manchester City last season.

Chelsea star Palmer, who is another name people are throwing into the mix, scored 12 goals for Chelsea as a right-winger in 2023/24. However, seven of those came from the penalty spot.

If Palmer or Foden have to start for England, it has to be in attacking midfield or on the left flank. Saka has to be the undisputed first-choice starter on the right wing!
