Report: Chelsea don’t think ‘fantastic’ defender will suit Enzo Maresca’s style, he could now be sold

Reports have claimed Chelsea have serious doubts over whether one of their current first team stars will suit the system the new manager is set to bring in.

After the sacking of Mauricio Pochettino, it was determined that Enzo Maresca was going to be the candidate brought in to replace him.

The fact the Italian has been offered a lengthy contract suggests that there is plenty of confidence from the club that he should be the man to take the project into the future.

One position that already has undergone major change is defence, with Thiago Silva making his long-awaited to Brazil after a sensational spell at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have already signed Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer, with reports claiming he is already very excited to work under Maresca.

Chelsea don’t think Trevoh Chalobah suits Maresca

However, the future does not look so bright for everyone under the new manager, with The Athletic claiming that there is not much confidence in Trevoh Chalobah’s ability to succeed in the system the new manager is set to bring.

It goes on to say they have doubts over whether he has the ability to play out from the back that the club believe is going to be a crucial part of Maresca’s game in West London.

Many Chelsea managers of the past have been of the belief that Chalobah is an important player for them. Frank Lampard previously described him as ‘fantastic’.

The form he showed when coming into the side at the backend of last season was certainly enough in some people’s eyes that he should be kept, with his versatility to play anywhere across the backline another strength he possesses.

When looking at other players at the club, it would be difficult at this stage to say the club should be selling him ahead of someone like Axel Disasi.
