Journalist Simon Phillips has claimed that Chelsea are keen to pay the fee of the release clause of one top player this summer.

Phillips has claimed on his Substack that the Blues have communicated to his current club, RB Leipzig, that they are keen to pay the money that matches his release clause.
He said: “Chelsea have also told Leipzig that they are willing to pay his current release clause of around £55m if the player agrees to join them. Chelsea will want to schedule the instalments of that fee though, and an agreement will also be needed there.
“Sources say it’s now just a waiting game as Sesko decides what he wants to do. There is no indication yet from sources to which way he is swaying at the moment or who has the best offer on the table. Sesko and his people are looking at ALL aspects of this though and not just financially.”

Sesko enjoyed a really strong second half of the season, where he contributed to a goal in pretty much every game he played in 2024.
He has previously been described as ‘very fast’, and is already showing he has potential to be one of the top strikers in the game.
It has been claimed that the Blues have ended their interest in signing Victor Osimhen, despite the fact that he was earmarked for much of last season as their number one transfer target.
