'All being well': When Rodrigo Gomes will be announced as a new Wolves player, medical done - journalist

Rodrigo Gomes is set to become Wolves’ newest recruit – and there is now word on when he will be announced.

Gomes is all ready to become the first addition of the summer for Wolves – or second, if you want to count Tommy Doyle turning his loan move from Manchester City permanent.

Gomes got the green light on Sunday when Braga and Wolves reached an agreement worth £12.7 million.

The player has been having his medical today, and fans are now glued to their phones awaiting the first pictures of him in a Wolves shirt.

But when might that be exactly? Nathan Judah has given an update today.

Judah took to X on Tuesday to inform supporters that Gomes is likely to be officially announced by the club on Wednesday.

He said at 2:38pm: “Rodrigo Gomes is currently in Wolverhampton undergoing his medical. All being well, he will be announced tomorrow as Wolves’ first signing of the season. Cracking start to recruitment.”

Gomes will have had his medical and had all of his data and metrics recorded, before then doing media work and his first interview.

Journalist Ben Jacobs has said this evening that the player has completed his medical, with no issues.

At the moment, it’s unclear what time exactly the announcement could be on Wednesday.

But it appears that Wolves fans will have a new face to get excited about, which has been much needed for many who have felt frustrated about the club over the past couple of weeks.

One wonders if Wolves may use this unveiling of Gomes as an opportunity to launch the new kits for the 2024/25 season.

There have been some leaks on social media, but there has not yet been an official announcement from the club.

Today, Wolves announced they had agreed a multi-year sponsorship with DEBET, which will be the principal front-of-shirt partner.

Gomes a great start to the window

Gomes signing for Wolves is definitely a very positive start to the summer from the club.

The youngster was one of the most exciting players in Portugal last season, as he scored nine goals and made eight assists in 36 appearances.

The 20-year-old operated mainly as a right wing-back, so it’s good that he can provide some cover for Nelson Semedo, a player Gary O’Neil adores of course.

We will see if O’Neil wants to use him as an actual winger for Wolves, given that is his natural position.
