Report: Club decide they would rather sell their 'devastating' striker to Tottenham rather than Man United

With many Premier League clubs chasing the same strikers this summer, Tottenham Hotspur may now have the advantage on Manchester United in one race.

All of Tottenham, United, Chelsea and Arsenal are said to be looking for a new number nine, with Benjamin Sesko the name linked with many.

Spurs weren’t necessarily linked with a move, even if Sesko’s skill-set would have actually been very well suited to an Ange Postecoglou team.

But with Sesko now staying at RB Leipzig, Premier League sides will need to look elsewhere, meaning there could be a lot of overlap.

In terms of other strikers on the market, Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez is attracting attention, as is fellow Eredivisie goal-scorer Brian Brobbey.

But particularly in Tottenham and Manchester United’s case, the pair are said to be intent on a move for Sevilla’s Youssef En-Nesyri.

The 27-year-old, who joined from Leganes in 2020, scored 20 goals across all competitions last term, including two strikes in the Champions League.

And with Sevilla open to selling En-Nesyri for the right price this summer, a preference of which club they’d like to do business with has emerged.

Sevilla want to sell Youssef En-Nesyri to Tottenham in Bryan Gil swap deal

According to Spanish outlet El Mira, Sevilla would rather sell En-Nesyri to Tottenham over United because of their interest in Bryan Gil.

Erik ten Hag’s side are willing to pay Sevilla’s £17m asking price this summer according to the report, making them the ‘favourites’ to sign the striker.

The price mentioned may seem low for a striker who has been in ‘devastating’ form, but with one year left on his contract, Sevilla don’t want to lose the Moroccan for free next year.

And despite Manchester United being in pole position to seal a deal, Sevilla have spotted an opportunity with Tottenham.

According to the report, which also mentions a reunion for En-Nesyri with Julen Lopetegui at West Ham United, Sevilla would be willing to enact a swap deal with Spurs.

Postecoglou happy to sell Gil

The Spanish club want to sign Bryan Gil permanently, a player Tottenham are reportedly happy to lose.

And although they would get more cash from a straight up sale to either United or West Ham, achieving a deal for Gil would be seen as a coup.

Although things haven’t gone as planned for the 23-year-old in England, Gil still has a strong reputation in Spain, and Sevilla would like to welcome the winger home.

That being said, both Diego Simeone and Jose Mourinho both want to sign the same Tottenham player this summer.
