Report: £13.3m Unai Emery signing willing to take pay cut to leave Aston Villa

A £13.2m Unai Emery signing is willing to take a pay cut to leave Aston Villa this summer transfer window, according to a recent report.

Emery is in the process of assembling a squad ready to battle on four fronts next season as they prepare to play Champions League football.

Monchi will be hard at work identifying targets for his manager, though, he’ll also be working on a number of outings.

That said, it has just emerged that one player really wants to leave the club.

Alex Moreno wants to leave Aston Villa

According to Cope Sevilla, via Estadio Deportivo, Aston Villa left-back Alex Moreno keen to leave the club this summer.

Since joining from Real Betis in a £13.3m deal in January 2023, Moreno has been in and out of the team with injuries.

The 31-year-old is now eager to return to Betis and will even take a pay cut to ensure a deal can go through.

He is under contract at Villa Park until 2026, so Villa would likely want to recoup much of the fee they outlaid on him.

Real Betis may struggle to meet Aston Villa’s demands

There is a suggestion that the Spanish outfit may struggle to afford Moreno even if his salary is reduced.

Villa would surely want no less than what they paid for him, so that could be a stumbling block in any forthcoming negotiations.

Betis will consider other targets in the event that Villa outprice them, though, it’s understood that they will continue to monitor his developments throughout the summer.
