Report: Tottenham want to sign 'amazing midfielder but he'll now cost £5m more than Tanguy Ndombele

Tottenham are in the market for a number of players this summer but they could have to break their transfer record to land a top target.

After manager Ange Postecoglou made it clear he wanted new faces this summer, work is ongoing at the club to bring in new players.

So far, a number of players have been linked with a move to Spurs, some more concrete than others.

The likes of Chris Fuhrich, Marcus Edwards and Hiroki Ito have all been linked with a transfer in just the last week alone.

Of course, another player Tottenham would like to sign is England midfielder, Eberchi Eze.

And according to reports, Tottenham have now learnt they’ll need to pay a club-record fee for Eze.

Eberechi Eze’s release-clause revealed amid Tottenham interest

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Tottenham will need to pay a huge fee to get Eze from Palace.

The report claims that Spurs would need to fork out £60m for Eze, with another £8m due in add-ons as part of that clause.

That sort of fee would mean Tottenham spending a club-record figure on a player who has starred in England this season for Palace.

Eze’s form has earned him a place in the England squad for this summer’s Euros and Tottenham could have a decision to make now in case Eze impresses further and more interest comes in July.

Lauded as an ‘amazing‘ midfielder, Eze to Spurs does indeed look like it has some legs at least.

Who are Tottenham’s record buys amid links to Ebere Eze?

Tottenham have spent big money in recent windows but they have yet to blitz the £63m they spent on Tanguy Ndombele back in 2019.

As we know, Ndombele has been a flop in terms of performances in a Spurs shirt, albeit he did win the league in Turkey this season.

Since then, Spurs have spent big on players like Cristian Romero (£42.5m) and Richarlison (£60m), while they also splashed out £40m on Eze’s England teammate, James Maddison.

Daniel Levy, then, will spend if the right player is available.

Quite whether he’ll pay the £68m for Eze, though, remains to be seen.
