‘Gonna show the world’… Omari Forson sends clear message to Erik ten Hag after Man Utd exit confirmed

Omari Forson has completed his exit from Manchester United to Serie A side Monza.

Manchester United wanted to keep Omari Forson, offering him a new deal to try and convince him to stay at Old Trafford.

The 19-year-old has other plans, choosing to sign with Italian side Monza, a deal which has now been confirmed.

Forson will get a quicker route to first team football at the mid-table Serie A side, an opportunity he is keen to grasp.

Omari Forson poses in Monza shirt

Many fans only believe a deal is real when they see a player posing in the club’s shirt, and so Monza fans will be pleased to see Omari Forson in his new colours.

The Manchester United academy graduate shared an image on Instagram posing in Monza’s red and white strip for the first time for his presentation.

Forson has signed a deal with Monza until 2028, where he hopes to use his grounding from Manchester United to progress his career.

Omari Forson tribute to Erik ten Hag

Omari Forson made his first team debut at the start of 2024, at the time just the fifth player handed his debut by Erik ten Hag.

Following on from that FA Cup cameo against Wigan, he was later given his Premier League debut, and his first start for the club.

He also featured in the FA Cup semi-final, and while he did not make the squad for the final, he only has gratitude for Ten Hag.

Forson shared an Instagram story post as tribute to Ten Hag, in which he shared an image of the manager with him on the Old Trafford touchline.

He wrote: “Appreciate all the opportunities you gave me. Gonna show the world what you saw in me a long time ago.”

Ten Hag selected Forson in six pre-season matches in 2023, lining him up for a first team role.

The Dutchman’s own role as Manchester United manager is unclear, with Ineos reviewing whether he should remain as manager. It’s murky whether this uncertainty played any part in Forson’s decision to quit and try his luck elsewhere.
