Country pop icon Carrie Underwood ended a recent headline slot with an unfortunate mishap, though thankfully she was able to laugh it off.
Crowds at the Carolina Country Music Fest this weekend past were treated to a closing set from a modern-day country legend, as Carrie Underwood stepped up to take the reins of the final headline slot of the weekend. In a tightly packed 22-song set filled with her greatest hits, Underwood stunned the audience in Myrtle Beach with hits like Blown Away and Jesus, Take the Wheel – refusing to let a dramatic downpour get in the way of a good time as the heavens opened towards the end of her set. But festival-goers were stunned by Underwood’s exit from the stage, which made for viral footage she will not be rushing to watch a replay of anytime soon.

Fresh off of waving goodnight to her adoring crowd, Underwood was in the midst of a rapturous standing ovation as she turned her back to the sodden crowd and began to walk off stage.
Suddenly, as if there were a trap door placed strategically at the stage exit, the celebrity disappeared out of sight – appearing to lose her footing as she attempted to walk down a set of stairs.
Onlooking fans were left panicking, and audible screeches could be heard as one spectator cried: “Get her help!”.
While there has been no official update about Underwood’s condition, a social media post uploaded by the singer appears to confirm that she’s okay.
“Well, last night sure was fun!”, wrote Underwood on Instagram, adding: “And though the ending was quite unexpected, it made for a night we’ll never forget!”.
Underwood praised for not letting the rain dampen her spirits
Though the latter stages of her performance presented a couple of challenges, fans took to Twitter (X) to shower Underwood with praise for putting up with the substantial downpours.
“Rain or shine, @carrieunderwood puts on one heck of a show”, wrote one fan – alongside some impressive crowd footage of the Oklahoma native performing her biggest hit, Before He Cheats, while drenched:
“There is nobody doing it like her”, wrote one fan in response to Underwood’s heroic performance in the rain. “She is legendary.”
“My forever entertainer of the year”, claimed another. “She doesn’t even need a hat in the rain?”
A third adoring fan added: “I absolutely love this video! I can’t stop watching it. You’re the greatest entertainer there is!”
Underwood has little time to lick the wounds from her fall, with a smattering of headline shows in the states lined up this summer, before she embarks on a return to her Las Vegas residency this August.
