Attacker not in London as report shares disappointing twist on player's mooted West Ham transfer

One potential West Ham United transfer appears like it actually won’t be happening, for now at least.

West Ham are continuously being linked with one transfer after another this summer, with reports suggesting that Luis Guilherme is on the verge of joining the Hammers.

Julen Lopetegui and Tim Steidten seem to be intent on bolstering the attacking ranks at the London Stadium this summer.

It’s little wonder as to why, after David Moyes depleted his forward line back in January, failing to bring in any replacements for Said Benrahma or Pablo Fornals.

If the new West Ham manager wants to take our club forward on to the next level, the signing of an elite forward player will be crucial this summer.

Lopetegui is said to be keen to complete the majority of his transfer business before our pre-season campaigns kicks off on July 20th.

He’ll have to get a wriggle on if he’s to wrap up his business early, and the latest news will be a big setback to his hopes of doing exactly that…

Disappointing twist on attacker’s mooted West Ham transfer

So the Hammers look set to miss out on one of our key transfer targets, for the time being.

That’s because the player in question is actually not in London for talks like it was previously claimed.

Record (print edition June 12th, page 23) have made a big contrasting claim to recent suggestions that one player is closing in on a Hammers switch.

The Portuguese outlet claim that other media outlets have been suggesting that Jota Silva is in the Capital to hold talks with West Ham about a summer transfer to the London Stadium.

However, that’s apparently not the case, and a transfer to West Ham is nowhere near happening for the 24-year-old Vitoria de Guimaraes winger right now.

I have to say, I’m not too fussed either way about this one. If West Ham manage to get a deal for Guilherme done and dusted, I think Lopetegui should be looking to seal a transfer for a more experienced attacker to come in alongside the Brazilian teen.

I can see the Hammers boss trying to sign someone like Wilfried Zaha now, rather than Jota Silva.
